We have developed several web-based applications to meet specific needs.
Web Project Tracker
This tool allows the campus community to submit changes, updates and new projects to the Web Development Team. A tracking feature allows users to also get up to the minute status reports of their projects. The project tracker was launched in July 2003. Since launch, we have worked on
4159
projects, we have also adapted this application for offices such as Student Activities, Technical and Network Services and the Print Shop.
Rotator Management System
This tools allows the Web Development Team to have control over the "advertising" banners and graphics on our web site. This application allows us to better measure the effectiveness of graphics on the College's website.
Mail Warehouse
This is a full-featured mass HTML email submission and distribution system. It allows us to send pre-formatted, graphically exciting emails to a list of subscribers. We have sent emails to users ranging in size from 100 email addresses to 5,000 email addresses. The tool also allows us to gauge the effectiveness of the email with link tracking.
Faculty Database We launched this application for the Fall 2004 semester. It allows to create a web page for each member of the faculty with their contact information, including email address, office hours, background, and a link, if they have one, to their personal website. This project has been well received.
Form Builder This application was launched in the Summer of 2005. It allows ourselves and others on campus to easily design and collect information from online web forms either through email or by storing it in our database.
Allegheny College Web Development Wiki Using the popular Wikimedia software, the Allegheny Wiki allows us to easily document our web development projects and share helpful tutorials and information with others.
